ABOUT:

The company sells high-end electric bikes through their brick and mortar store in San Diego as well as through their Shopify storefront. 

GOAL:

Improve site conversion rate through a data backed website redesign and A/B testing.

The challenge:

There was tons of friction in the purchase process. Because the bikes range from $2,500+ customers needed to be very sure they were choosing the right bike and from the right company. FLX was doing a poor job with this.

Research Report

PHASE 2:

Findings

Exit intent surveys informed us that a main reason customers were leaving was because the product page was missing important conversion information about the shipping, warranty  and financing. This was the reason for 22% of exits.

We also noticed that the icons on the home page for shipping, warranty and financing were receiving tons of dead clicks (when visitors click on something that is not clickable) indicating customers are looking for more information regarding shipping, warranty financing.

Another point of friction on the website was a common psychological term called “paradox of choice”

This is where there are too many options to choose from that people end up choosing none.

From surveys and analytics we noticed that many visitors were confused on which bike to select. FLX had a compare page but most visitors were not seeing it. When we looked into analytics we found that the page value of anyone who did end up seeing the page was significantly higher than those that did not. 

PHASE 3:

A/B test

We created a variation that added these missing conversion elements. These include clickable icons that explain the shipping, warranty and financing options as well as a link to a redesigned compare page.
